Progress

We finally got some actual instructions for our classes.   At least now we know more of what is expected of us.  So, this is good.  Plus, we got our director to help us get rid of a couch.  Our apartment has 2 couches… and there’s no need for that.  They’re not even nice couches.  So, he got us a trash ticket from the city and now we can place the couch out in the alley.  It will be taken away and we will have more room in the apartment.  Yay!

Not much going on today.  I’m worn out and sooo ready for bed, but I still have 1 more class to go.

Apartment pics 2

So here are more pics of the apartment.  We think we have things moved around to our satisfaction, but who knows… things may change again.

You can see my laptop in the window in the back… right now it’s the only place I can pick up internet service.  The apartment is quite cozy and we like it.  Thank goodness we like each other, otherwise this would be extremely close quarters.  Finally… the kitchen, in it’s entirety!

not much there... ugh

Land of the morning calm

This place doesn’t do anything until 10am.  None of the shops, restaurants, street vendors are open until 10.  There are a few coffee places that open at 9am, but that’s the earliest we’ve seen anyone outside so far.  It’s weird.  People do things late and start late… I’m sure once we get used to the time change this will be wonderful.

This is the view from our window looking down the street.

Those are mountains in the background.

We’re up on the 4th floor.  Our buildling is not as big as those you can see in the picture.

This is looking straight ahead out the window.

Seth has set up a work space.  We moved some shelves around so that it’s easy to use our table for work.  He didn’t want me to take his picture.  (I love the light green table and chairs… sooo 50’s)

He loves me.

He loves me.

Weather here is still beautiful. We’ve had blue skies almost everyday. (sorry about the snow back home) Classes are becoming easier the more we teach.

OH, and I changed my Random Images. I was missing some friends so I made another slideshow.

Appliances :(

I know that I’ve already said I miss my kitchen… but take a look:

A 2 burner.
A 2 burner.

The tiny black square between the knobs… that’s the broiler!  Ugh.  Thankgoodness we have a toaster oven, otherwise we’d be in trouble.  No microwave.  I hadn’t realized how attached I am to my microwave.  It’s the best invention.

Okay… now on to the laundry.
Does anyone know Korean?!
Does anyone know Korean?!

We thought we could figure it out… but either it’s broken, or we have no clue. :?: We are hoping to have someone from our school come and help us out with this.

It’s Monday morning and we’re starting our first full week of classes.  Wish us luck! This is when we’ll get a full feel of how things are going to work.  I forgot to mention that they give us free coffee and tea at work, which is really nice.

Apartment pics (round 1)

We’re still organizing and moving furniture around… it’s a small space but feels cozy.  I think I’m going to like it here.

Of course I had to hang the tie dye tapestry up... Seth gave it to me 8 years ago.

The leather couches are really comfortable…. and that mirror beside the couch has become my vanity table.  There are tons of little drawers on the floor to put my stuff.

Queen size bed... not exactly comfortable.

There is a little chest of drawers by the bed… on the other side is a giant window.  It almost feels like a hotel.

Shower/ Bathroom... this is weird, yet functional.

On the wall are stick on fish.  They made me laugh when I saw them.

So, this is some of our new place… more to come.  It’s been a lazy weekend for me.  Seth went to Seoul yesterday to find a converter.  Last night we went out with some other teachers in the area, they’re helping us get our barings and find the good places to eat.

Last night in WV… for a while

I am soo lucky to have such amazing friends.  We went out Saturday nite to listen to some friends of ours play and celebrate the upcoming adventure.

Amy, Paul, Me & Angela

It was a great way to end our last night in Huntington.  Even my sister came out with us.

Ang & Me

Ang & Me

Sunday evening… thru a semi-blizzard… Ang and Dad drove Seth and I up to Columbus.  I sit now in the airport lobby waiting for our early morning flight.  I could use a plethora of emotions to describe how I feel right now… excited, scared, nervous, joyful, determined, sad, proud… not one particular word fits right now.  It will be one day before we are in Korea and I still have no idea what to expect.  Change is always scary but I think Seth and I are in for the time of our lives.

Think happy thoughts for us.

——————————————————-

Just to let you know… we made it to Sanbon safely!  Our apartment is cozy and we’re unpacking stuff.  I’ll post pics soon of it all.
